The Lesson Learned: Solidarity Among Uncertainty

After a deep dive into the results presented on the first day, the second day shifted focus to reflection—analyzing the lessons learned throughout the grant’s implementation. As FP2030’s Communications and Youth Officer, my role often places me behind the lens, capturing key moments and documenting the energy of the room through my phone and camera. But beyond just taking photos, I found myself absorbing the atmosphere, listening to conversations, and noting the nuances of each participant’s experience.

As I moved through the space, weaving between discussions and snapping shots of animated exchanges, I began to see patterns—insights into what worked well and what could be improved for future rounds of the fund. Every captured expression, every snippet of conversation, painted a broader picture of the impact these projects had, not just on their communities but also on the individuals who led them. The challenges, the successes, the unexpected hurdles—all of it shaped a collective understanding of how to refine and strengthen our approach moving forward.

These moments of reflection weren’t just about evaluation; they were about growth, about ensuring that the next iteration of the fund is even more effective, inclusive, and transformative. And while my role may have been to document the event, I left with more than just a gallery of images—I carried with me the voices, the stories, and the vision for what comes next.

But this work does not happen in a vacuum. The fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights is happening in an increasingly hostile and uncertain landscape. Funding cuts, the rise of anti-rights agendas, and the constant need to restructure and adapt at the last minute create a sense of chaos that makes long-term planning difficult. Yet, despite these barriers, what I witnessed in that room was resilience—partners strategizing, sharing solutions, and reaffirming their commitment to this work. The path ahead may be unpredictable, but the passion and determination of those leading these efforts remind me that even in uncertain times, progress is still possible. United, we will continue to advocate and fight for SRHR in the region.

More than any single strategy or best practice, personally, the key takeaway from this exchange was the power of collective action. In a moment where setbacks feel constant, the only way forward is together. Solidarity—between organizations, movements, and individuals—is what strengthens our ability to navigate challenges, push back against harmful policies, and continue advocating for the rights and dignity of all. Uncertainty may define this moment, but it is our shared commitment that defines the future we are fighting for.
