FPNN Community Reporters bring unique perspectives to APC coverage

The W.H. Gates Sr. Institute is supporting three FPNN Community Reporters to discover and explore the conversation taking place during the 9th African Population Conference in Lilongwe, Malawi.

With the theme of “Road to 2030: Leveraging Africa’s human capital to achieve transformation in a world of uncertainty”, the reporters shared their expectations and approach to coverage.

FPNN Community Reporter - Innocent Grant

As we get ready for the 9th Africa Population Conference in Malawi, I am looking forward to the many sessions, researchers and speakers who will be addressing to this year's theme, “Road to 2030: Leveraging Africa’s Human Capital to achieve transformation in a world of uncertainty.”

It will be a week of meaningful engagement, participation and reporting to keep followers up to date with what will be happening during the APC.

I look forward to creating accessible reporting by breaking down key technical issues and research that will be presented during the conference.

I hope to see young people participating and contributing to the various sessions and discussions that will shape the outcome of the conference and agenda.

FPNN Community Reporter - Esenam Amuzu

The 9th APC is happening in Lilongwe and I am specifically looking forward to engaging with participants, leaders and population scientists to learn more about the power of family planning in achieving the best of African Human Capital for African development.

Specifically, I am seeking to co-translate complex population data or issues shared during the APC in a simple storytelling format to help us understand and participate in realizing the theme of the 9th APC “Road to 2030, leveraging Africa’s human capital to achieve transformation in a world of uncertainty.”

Second, I am curious to learn from Malawi and its people on what role they think family planning plays in achieving such a mission.

Tune in for full coverage by our reporters during the week.
